About us

About Our Ministry

We are a private, not-for-profit community organization that has served the housing needs of Lee County residents going on 8 years. We Care Outreach has developed a reputation for dedication and commitment to persons with little or no income, and to the populations most stigmatized, as is evidenced by the consumers served. We Care Outreach operates the three transitional housing programs in Lee County, Florida since 2005.

Testimonials

Left their home in June to escape Marianie's abusive husband, drained their money in hotels and spent the next several months homeless. The sisters along with their six children, ages 2-14, drifted from shelter to shelter in Naples, Punta Gorda, and Fort Myers. After being turned away from shelter after shelter due to the family size, or not meeting program requirements, they finally found a home at We Care Outreach in August 2010. They had walked so far to get here, their dollar store flip-flops were worn completely through. We were not only able to house the family, but get them new shoes as well.

Wayne was a construction worker who was bitten by a brown recluse spider. He was hospitalized for quite some time. Because of the bite he had to have his leg amputated at the knee, and was unable to work. Through all this he was made homeless and turned to alcohol to comfort him. He came to We Care Outreach by a local agency referral, and our Recovery facility provided services to Wayne for over a year while he was in a wheelchair. We were able to get him a prosthesis through a local agency, and Volunteers of America assisted him in getting Social Security.

Jeff came to us with a substance abuse problem, and had a history of being in and out of his son's life. He came to us from Lee County Stockade. He states, "I'm two years sober, my son is back in my life, I am house management for one of the Men's Houses, and has been steadily employed now for over 18 months. I am no longer a liability to society, I'm an asset! I am currently enrolled in school to become a Certified Addiction Counselor to help others as I have been helped. Thank you We Care Outreach for giving me a chance.
